Yesterday, my house was surrounded by a big group of gang members..Me and my family were going to be killed and there was no way out.

Another night, i had a nightmare where my me and my family were at home and the Taliban came and burned down our house and were going to kill us.

In real life i'm shy but well I haven't experienced shyness much recently Because I avoid going to places that make me shy. Is shyness one of the reasons why i get these dreams?

I am not a professional but I am happy to give you my opinion of the situation. If you are naturally a shy person like myself. I have grown more extroverted during the years but beginning I was painfully shy and easily embarrased. I use to have lots of dreams about flying and trying to find something or running away from some big and scary. Your dreams of dying and being in a helpless situations where you can't fend for yourself or and with family might mean that in real life you might feel powerless in standing up for yourself and what you believe in. You are probably very shy and really want to be more outgoing, but every time you plan on doing it you might feel its really hard to do. Maybe something in your personal life is stressing you out with or without you knowing it. Putting strain on doing things, or making you more introverted. Instead of moving forwards (getting to have more self esteem) you are moving backwards (having less self esteem.) I think talking to someone you TRUST about some things you are concerned about no matter what it is will help you get back on track. If there is someone that is outgoing, a very confident personality you know and TRUST and is understanding with you and you like. I think going out with someone you can have fun with more and more will help you come out of your shell. Getting involved in different community activities, anything with helping other people (like the salvation army, boys and girls club.) Getting involved and getting out is the best therapy. You just take a little at a time and do smaller jobs first then do more as to how you are feeling. In those days nearing my graduation with my bachelor's degree, there were times I felt like giving up and I constanly think even today when things get to much for me to bare. She said to me one" How do you eat an elephant, one bite at a time". As it happened with me I was once like you, some people that meet me now wouldn't ever beleive I use to hide behind my mothers legs or her skirts when people would bend down to say only a gentle "helllo."

Your dreams are very dramatic and very very scary. Its not just a case of being shy, you are absolutely terrified of social situations......even to the point where you are choosing to avoid these situations.. Your dreams are your subconscious telling your conscious mind what is bothering you. The intensity of your dreams is reflecting the intensity of your feelings. If you are not careful, you might withdraw from society all together because it seems your fear is pretty big. Maybe its time you got some help for this fear you have....and that is probably why you are having such intense and frightening dreams, and probably if you dont do something about your fear these dreams will get even more intense and even more frightening. Your subconcious stores everything from birth...things that the conscious mind cannot remember, and dreams are the only way information can be brought back to the conscious mind. In your case, you have a fear that needs to be addressed....at least that is what your dreams are telling me.

Your Title is different from your story.

In your dreams, you never died......I bet you woke up before that happened.

Did you know your brain is like a computer, it takes in data all day long. Sleep happens because the brain has to sort out all the data you took in during the day and get rid of the junk, and file the useful stuff where it can be accessed. This is like your computer using Disc Clean-up, and disc defragmentation.

Dreams are this process in action, you don't remember all your dreams, but usually parts of some. but they are there .

When you start to wake up in a bad dream, it is possible to force yourself to stay in the dream, if you are able to accomplish that, you will find the dream turns in your favor and there is a good ending.

Your dreams have nothing to do with shyness

I am reluctant to say this is because you are shy. Think about your life...Are there any situations in your life where you feel as though you are are trapped (bad job, school, relationship, etc.) Sometime our anxieties in our everyday life get coded in another way in our dreams. Examine your life and see if you are anyplace that may seem like a dead end or no way out.

I don't think shyness is the case. In those dreams, those are escapable situations in which you could overcome huge odds and actually win. Maybe your dreams are trying to prove to you that you're better than you think.

Try writing some of these dreams on paper. Sounds like you might have a novel hidden in there.
