It's a great city to see by foot. They have an excellent public transportation system and lots of stuff to do that's cheap or free. It's also got a lot of great history.
Down side it the sales tax is 10%. Much higher than where I live.
It's my favorite city to visit and makes a great one day trip.

lots of bars
fresh yummy seafood
lots of studious people/places/things to do
lots of money is being pumped into development
beautiful old architecture
great city to walk around for a day (or a few)
the charles river
access to beaches is a 15 minute subway ride away
gets some decent first run threatre and art shows
if you love winter, you got it.
good scene for foodies.
whale watching tours from the harbor
the Science Museum
WORST

expensive expensive expensive real estate
the city planning sucks - and the goverment is traditionally wickedly corrupt in this city (see the Big Dig for examples of ridiculousness)
the accent is AWFUL and just sounds ignorant
6th worst water of metropolitan areas in the country
drivers are super bad
pedestrians make up for it by risking their lives to cross the street at any time
longest winters ever
rotaries
the t closes at 12:30am
bars close by 2am at the latest
most expensive parking in the country
beligerant sports fans
not much to do if you aren't a drinker
