Multi Level Marketing
A little like (but not quite the same) as pyramid selling. with MLM the number of layers is uaually more limited and the scheme should conform to various laws.
(pyramid schemes are usually illegal, a well run MLM company is not)
In essnece, they are ALL a pig to make any real money from. The idea though is convincing - you make commissions on items you sell AND also make a share of the profits from the sales of people you have inotrodced to the company.
There aer easier ways iof throwing your money away however.

MLM mean Multilevel or multi-level marketing. It is a commission system based on several levels. You get paid for those you introduce to the business, and also get paid on sales of people brought in to the business by people below you.
Is MLM a scam? No.. It can be but the majority of companies are legit.
MLM is sometimes confused with network marketing. There is a difference. MLM is a commission system. Network marketing is a system of selling products by "networking" or friends telling friends. Avon, Mary Kay, and other very large companies use network marketing or social marketing but may or may not have an mlm commission structure.
The idea of the MLM commission structure is that eventually you will be able to have "residual" income. In other words everyone below you will be selling enough to earn you a commission without having to actually sell products yourself. Several distributors of different companies have huge monthly incomes without having to do anymore work because of this system. Most however don't earn enough to pay for thier costs of doing business. Obviously those making huge amounts know how to put the business together in a way that makes them lots of money.
There are lots of seminars and courses on how to build a network marketing business.

For an MLM / Network Marketing opportunity to work you need Affordable Products That Sell Well And Marketing Systems That Work !!
1. You need products that sell like Chocolates at Easter-Time, Toys at Christmas, Turkeys on Thanksgiving or Cold Drinks during a summer heat-wave.
2. The products must be AFFORDABLE to most people, EVERYBODY must be able to afford to buy them and the products MUST be consumable, so they generate REPEAT BUSINESS (this is SO important!)
3. You can't be asking your prospects to pay anything up-front, like an associate joining or registration fee, or be made to buy some kind of “Business starter kit”. (That’s a No -No!)
4. The business system, support system and marketing plan must be SO SIMPLE and is MUST BE very EASY TO FOLLOW, so that even a complete novice should be able to generate healthy, on-going, weekly earnings within just a few short months

It means Multi Level Marketing and its generally a rip off. I'd stay away from it.
