if everybody that makes a purchase pays a tax. that is good.. its when 90 percent of the tax revenue falls on the social elite is when it isnt good..why shoud a wealthy person have to afford all the tax burden in america.andd the welfare recievers pay absolutely none. that isnt fair. they dont work or contribute anything to society.and pay nothingto society.just take from the workers and lay around the free housing and watch TV all day.. where is the incentive to start a business so you can pay for the deadbeats in society? be real.. capitalism works but nobody like it when someone makes more money that another person makes

I've been in discussions about the Fair Tax before. It sounds like a pretty good idea because until your income is above the poverty level you do not even pay tax on your purchases.

I am a little concerned over the idea of a "Consumption Tax", which is what this is. Will people curtail their spending habits to save on tax costs? How will it effect the economy?

BTW if you put the http:// in front of your web address it will become a link like so

I do not believe this idea will work. People will buy less than they currently do, that is just a fact. Also people will buy less when their are recessions in the American economy. I believe that a flat tax is still the best idea.

Tax all incomes above a certain amount. All at the same rate. This tax would have to be applied to all incomes however, this has been suggested before but investment and other types of income were exempted from the tax.
