Metals dead. Kerrang's sold out to sh*te such as Muse and Green Day, and Scuzz is f*cking gettin there!
Look at Metallica. Take Load for an example. Why the hell did they do that!
Have you seen these Trivium gays? Talk about bent..
Metal died with Dime.

I can tell you what happened... First of all, "2-chord wonders" like Kurt Cobain convinced everyone that playing boring, depressing sludge was cool. The second thing was that some complete moron somewhere decided that it would be a good thing to combine Metal with rap, thus "nu-metal" and talentless hacks like Limp Bizkit, Korn, Linkin Park, etc. were spawned.

agalloch - ashes against the grain
deicide - the stench of redemption
kataklysm - in the arms of devastation
unexpect - in a flesh aquarium
drudkh - blood in our wells

that's mostly black and death metal, the variety and number of good metal acts is lacking but there's some good stuff still out there....you've got to bear in mind that a lot of metal albums that are now seen as 'classic' were almost ignored upon release

.....and there's always tool if you like prog-metal

To begin, I never liked Heavy Metal, and still hate it to this day.

But, if you ask me, producers probably messed it up, by trying to get young teenagers hooked on it, and made it all childish and really gay sounding. Fall Out Boys, Greenday, Billy Talent are all crap and should just be banned. Soon, you'll probably start hearing dumb names like The Online Boys, Redface, Electric Power. You get the pic.

I know man, music seems to go in circles and right now metal is just kinda non existant. I still listen to all my old fav's and some of them are actually still around and kicking ***. You just don't hear much about them cuz in the U.S., people don't know what good music is anymore. Check out Iron Maiden's latest CD, they are getting older and in my opinion they are putting out great music still. Especially since Bruce and Adrian joined the band again. Anyways, some good stuff is still out there...just not much right now.

Nearly all the rock and metal which have been produced in this decade is awful. This is what happens when rock music makes love to popular music and horrible deformed children are born.

Music changes and metal died with it. At least at the essence you are talking about it. Music is always evolving and the next generation changes it to fit their ears. You have to hold on to what you like and know that you enjoyed it.
