I can understand your sentiments, and as you have already said there will always be some one eady to do the admin' bit!
But.......
I am an old fa*t now so I'm going back a bit in time (as we do)!
I had a flogging before it was deemed PC incorrect, I was strapped to the wall bars in a Gym, stripped except for a little pair of cotton shorts, ( I was 15 years old) some big guy with a very supple length of bamboo cane walked away from my turned back for about 10 paces and came flying into the target area and whacked me six times until my ar**e was bleeding, I needed stitches after this event, this punishment was for fighting, all legal and recorded as required by law.
The point I am trying to make here is that my only response throughout this event was to yell at the guy administering this flogging after each stroke and informing him what I thought of him and his wife and his mother.
Any one standing outside the Gym could hear me, in fact I must have been heard for miles!
I wasn't humiliated, I was a hero, all this was for fighting, I was eventually shipped off to the army, to fight people in other countries. That did sort me out!
Now I know this army stuff is all 'old hat' and we have heard it all before, I wonder if the American boot camp idea ever changed anything? Dont we have something similar in the UK?
I'm not ure about my facts here but did hanging ever decrease the amount of murders?
I have seen some of these yobs perform and even had mad thoughts of going around with a base ball bat and cracking a few bones incognito of course, but these are just mad thoughts, I dont think it ould work out, it may sort out a istrict here and their but would it solve the problem.
My answer can only be I dont have a solution.

Did you see Al Murry last night? He was funny and had a good point, ASBO's are seen as a badge of honour these days but if they called them GAYBO's or summit like that it would soon put em off.

I like the idea of calling them gaybos - back to the public floggings, who would do them? because if we were brutally honest would any of us be prepared to beat a young person in front of witnessess? I wouldn't and in the school that I work at whenever we debate the old bring back the cane routine we can never find anyone who would be prepared to do it. Gaybos and pink hair and uniforms - that is the way forward ( just for the parents though not the kids ) because believe me I would make my kids step into line if i thought I would have to have badly dyed hair and nasty uniform

I see your point but what would that achieve? In 99% of cases you should be looking to the parents. I wasn't allowed out smoking and drinking and causing trouble at the age of 12 - but what's the point in telling that to their smackhead irresponsible dole-claiming parents who don't give a monkeys? Give mum and dad a public flogging, that might help solve the problem
