I'm a Memphis fan...we've been legitimately bad and have had good reasons for our awfulness, but it seems like the Celtics are just manipulating their lineup to lose now. Every report I hear says that Pierce is dying to get back in the lineup, but the Celtics are "remaining cautious". Plus, they aren't making any moves to try and improve this season. Aren't they close to an NBA-record in consecutive losses? I mean, surely this is a tank-job worth Stern's ire and sanctions. The Grizzlies got shafted last year by the wierd playoff seeding, where the Clips were rewarded for tanking with a better first-round matchup, and now they're about to get shafted again by the shameless Boston Celtics (I hope they get the 4th pick). I'd love to hear anybody's thoughts on the entire situation.

I can see the frustration in this for a Memphis fan but it's an undeniable fact the Celtics are tanking this season. They've lost 17 in a row. Seventeen-in-a-row. I don't know of many NBA teams that are genuinely awful enough to lose that many games in a row. Even the fans on the insidehoops forums are looking forward at getting a chance at drafting Oden or Durant.
The Celtics are definately tanking this season. Paul Pierce will take just that little bit longer recovering from his injury and then when he comes back they'll win maybe another 10 or 15 and have a record that doesn't scream "Tanked!" to the reader. It's a sad state of affairs for Memphis fans, but regardless Memphis are looking at Durant or Oden if they carry on this way (and Oden comes out of college as theres still some doubt) and they'll appreciate either of those guys on their roster.

Yeah theyre tanking, which is kinda a good thing for me because im a sixers fan and the worst team never gets the first pick, so im hoping my sixers end up at like 2nd or 3rd worst in the NBA and pick up that 1st pick.

I think boston will end up with the worst record but get the 3rd of 4th pick with your grizzlies getting the 2nd.

its a bit of a stretch to come to this conclusion....injuries to key players is the reason to the celtic woes...many games in their losing streak were not blowouts....it will always be tough to win with such a young and experienced lineup.....in the end i think the stupid moves of ainge are the reason for the current collapse...passing on roy for telfair was a big mistake...passing on marcus williams for rajon rondo is a bigger mistake...passing on the chance to make a deal for allen iverson was the biggest mistake...auerbach had a knack of picking gems with trades and drafts....ainge seems to be going the opposite direction....in order to tank one must have the ability to win...with bad management and even worse coaching it just becomes a convenient excuse for the once mighty celtics

I like to refer to it as the Oden/Durrant lottery instead of the ping pong balls.

Yes the Celtics understand they have no chance of making the playoffs so it appears they are do what they can to raise their odds of getting Oden or Durrant.
