Also what is a very cheap server operating system i should use, it needs to be very cheap.

You need a DVD drive and 1 GB RAM is a bit low.

I agree about needing a DVD drive and about 1GB ram being a bit low for a file server.
Also, make sure there's a floppy drive for running diags and things like that.
