I'm nervous about buying online, because I've heard that what you see or how the diamond is rated is often different then what you end up getting delievered to your house. Ebay and bluenile.com are two sites I've looked at...but I don't know anyone who has sucessfully bought/liked a diamond online, but I just don't want to pay retail price at jewelery store.

Check out any jewelry wholesale/manufacturers in your area. My husband and I used one for my engagement ring and both our wedding bands. Their prices are about 60% of retail.

My husband went to all the "big box" jewelry stores--Jared, Charleston Alexander, etc. and wasn't happy with them. He didn't think they listened to what he was looking for, and they were overpriced. The manufacturer we went with listened to what he was looking for, and was very open about certifications and cost.

My custom, handmade channel-set diamond engagement ring appraised for double what we paid.

I don't know where you're located, but we used Dominion Jewelers in Falls Church, VA.

Just be careful! Diamonds have more or less a standard price, so if you find them cheaper, it is likely to be a scam and they may be lower quality than what you expect. It's better to buy a smaller diamond from a good jewllery shop.

If you are just interested in buying cheaply, why not go to a quality jewelry store and buy a Cubic Zirconia? They look as nice as a diamond and are much cheaper.

Go to a pawn shop. You will find amazing deals. The ones in LA in expensive areas around Rodeo Dr. are the best.

I would suggest Nexus diamonds.com They are not cubic zirconias, nor Morrissite, but a cultured diamond. Nexus diamonds are flawless, and conflict free. Their beauty is unsurpassed, and only a fraction of the cost for a low grade diamond. Check it out, you will NOT be disappointed!

If not, then BLue Nile is good.. but unfortunately not cheap!
