a little more detail would help.
are the patches just his scales? or are they fuzzy? do they look dull? or are they still as shiny as the rest of him except white?
my guess would be that it's nothing except he's changing colors. this can be caused by lack of vitamins or lack of sun light. my goldfish turned completely white a few years back and he's completely healthy and is almost 9yrs old. try giving him an orange slice (not a section, a slice like this http://www.juicetyme.com/images/orangeslice.jpg ). just float it on the top of the water in the morning and take it out when you go to bed. one every two weeks should be good.
however, if the patch is fuzzy, he's becoming dull, or he starts showing other signs he is sick, I'd need more details to tell you exactly what it is though, a white patch can be anything.

Ehm..
Millions of people all over the world are affected by hair loss, and it's not only the males that suffer this condition as even females are affected by this problem. What's sad is that many of the individuals affected by such a condition end up just accepting what is happening to their hair due to lack of information or options.
If you are looking for natural hair regrowth methods this is a good guide you can read http://hairagain.toptips.org

Ask your vet or pet shop, it may be your fish has a disease and requires a solution to put in the water. Also dependes what other fish you have in the tank and whether you have fresh or tropical fish

Might be fungus, disease, cancer, or any number of problems. Could you take it to a veterinarian? Well I'm sure it will be cheaper just to get a new gold fish :)

It most likely is "Ick"...sometimes caused by stress. If you don't have it, you need to get a product called Stress Coat. It replaces the natural protective slime on a fish. Any pet supply store will have it. You usually add two teaspoons for each 10 gallons. Hope this helps!! Good luck!!

snds like either whitespot or rot, separate it from the other fish so they dnt get infected and get a iodine solution or something from the petshop, which is able to cover all types of disease. Treat the tank and make sure you clean the tank it usually stays in so all bacteria is removed.

Is it slightly intented where the patches are? If so, then it has just lost a couple scales. It will be just fine. But if not, it could be a fungus.
