It RI we have a program - but its actual more fluff than action and I think that is part of the problem that many others see http://www.feinsteinfoundation.org/ Most of these agences and actions by the rich or famous very self-serving for the individuals promoting them - however, at least something gets to those how need it. A donation to the United Way or the American Red Cross (as examples) would be more effective.
Good Luck!!!

It isn't something new. I'm 70 and attended grade school with kids who walked barefoot to school through snow. Most of those kids grew up to be very successful adults because their parents, even though living in dire poverty, recognized the need for education for their children. It's the ones who drop out we have to really worry about. The local media and merchants put on a "Coats for Kids" drive every fall and there are many others who also provide meals, housing and other assistance.

Well, that is easy to answer. Movie stars don't care about people in the U.S.. Our kids that go hungry, etc, are not fashion accessories like a third world african kid. Who would care if Madonnas new kid was from Wisconson or Ohio? No one. But since he is from Africa, he probably matches one of her Gucci purses. And Angelina Jolie is just as shallow. Why would she want a plain old white trash baby? Nothing exotic about that.

Did you by chance hear what Oprah said about the underpriviledged in the US?
She said she went into the schools in the poorer districts of NYC and asked the children what they wanted to make their life better. The answer was iPods, nintendo, and cell phones.
She was looking to help with basic needs which these kids didn't even seem to want.
Can you blame them for not helping? Kids in the US think cell phones and video games are essential for survival.

I hear you. It's a complete shame and I don't look at people like Angelina Jolie and think - wow - what a great person or what a leader. I don't admire what Oprah is doing. What about all the people here in their own country who have no food? No clothes? I think its shameful how they ignore what happens in their own backyard.
