Standard advice is freeze it, but this might be difficult for a non-removable carpet. Something which has worked for me is (after removing as much as possible) trim the carpet fibres with nail scissors just below the blu-tack. Obviously, this will leave part of the carpet slightly denuded, but it usually isn't too noticeable.

Wendy, I'm not sure what the "tac" stands for but I think I can help you, here. When any of my kids spill something, I usually use shout, w/ a scrub brush, and it works everytime. With deep colored stains, I'd use vinegar/water solvent, the vinegar smell will disipate, and its known as one of the "Best Home Remedies" for many things! I use it, on my boys sneakers, when I take their shoe laces out to wash, I pull out the tongue's of thier shoes, and spray in side all over, the sides, and around the inner toe area the inner sides, the whole entire inside of thier shoes! And the vinegar disipates, (once again), and their shoes smell freshly cleaned... the vinegar/water solvent is an odor eater, and gets out stains, plus it will get out wrinkles from your clothing (straight out of the dryer!! Alls you do is take you shirts and hang them on a hanger and spray the wrinkles, and give that shirt a pull in those areas, and wrinkles are gone, and the smell disipates, once again, in a short while! This solvent is good to get rid of cigarette odor's, or any kinds of odors! And is very good for any kind of mold on carpet's or cupboards or anywhere, for that matter! And as dangerous as "Mold Spors" are, vinegar/water solvent will eat those mold spors right up!!! Back to your carpet, if worse comes to worse, you may have to use a Mister bottle, with a tad of bleach, and alot of warm water, and shake the bottle up, and mist the area, and have a back-up (Just warm water Mister) and scrub, then spray away that bleach, with the back up bottle, as quickly as possible!! Just remember to use very little bleach!! A little goes along way!!! And you dont want to discolor your carpet, either! The bleach is useing too much, will indeed change the color of your carpet!! So, be "Super-Careful" with the amount you use!! Good Luck to you!! Smile!!!

Can I suggest you try an ice cube on it to make it solid and then gently ease it away from the fibres. This is the method that you use for chewing gum. Good luck!

Freeze it with the solvent from a deodorant.

Failing that, get a set of tweezers and pluck for the next 3 years.

What ever you do, dont use jam.

If it's fluffy carpet, I'd try 'desolve it' (because freezing would take out chunks of the fabric too), if it isn't, freezing will do fine.
