As long as you have enough lead guitars to balance it out it's never tooo powerful.

You don't need 2 bass players in a band, thats just overkill. Bands use 2 guitar players to get a fuller sound and because alot of songs just need more than one guitar part in many areas. But to have more than 1 bass just isn't needed at all. Basically you need to get yourself a real bass player and you'll be fine with just one.

i'm not an expert on the subject, but maybe if one bass was a little...hm, lower, quieter, whatever you want to say, than the other bass, it might work out. but you have to have two guitarists, too.

Ned's Atomic Dustbin had two bass players. There really are no rules, just do what sounds good.

One playing busy stuff with a bright tone, maybe with a pick, and one thumb-picking a pedal type line with a dull, fat tone would work fine.

Detune one up an octive. there are no rules to music. but atleast one player would really have to know how to play.
