Definately the world ranked # 1 Australians are the favts despite their loss to England in the triangular series. Eng vs Aus is a different kind of match as similar to Ind vs Pak so we cant judge the capabilities of aussie based on their performance against Eng.

Apart from Australia, SA (As they are ranked #2 in both form of cricket) & SL(Especially becoz their success away from home in recent times-Though they are placed #5 in ICC rankings which is based on last 22 months performance, their last year success in ODI & Test is only 2nd to mighty Australians whch includes 6 test wins) has chances to make it for Semis but the proplem with former is that they choke in the tense situation while later doesnt have a strong middle order as similar to Aussie & SA.

Pak & Ind are 2 countries who cud sometimes turn things around but consistency is something which they lack to carry on. Indians have a miserable bowling line up but still they do fine however they are unable to explore their full batting potential.

Pakistan has an excellent bowling line up but they choke most of the times when they chose to chase an innings and they cud also colapse as they did with SA yesterday for less than 120 runs.

SOUTH AFRICA -
Have anyone seen what happened to both Pakistan and India in their ODI matches against South Africa?? Pakistan got beaten by 10 wickets in the last match 11 Feb 2007. The first ODI between the two teams SA won by 164 runs and the Pakies aren't the worst team around!! The team is awesome form peaking at the right time.

Australia seems to have lost some rhythm with the current ODI's against England.

Depends on which way you look at it.

Yes, australia won the tests but may i remind WC is based on ODIS which they have lost the last 2 against england. They still tour new zealond tho..

Windies have a great chance as they are always the underdogs in major competitions also playing on thier own turf will help.

Favourites are:

India,pakistan and Sri Lanka..

West Indies produce flat wickets, which will be a bonus for them 3 teams as they normally play on them. With Tendulkar, Ganguly , Dravids Batting, chasing wont be hard for India, however their bowling is farely unexperienced exlcuding H. Singh and Zaheer Khan..

Pakistan have Younis,Yousuf,Inzi, the best middle order, with pace arriving from Akhtar, Asif (the new mcgrath) and Gul, with powerful attacking alrounders in Razzaq,Afridi,Malik however opening is a problem..

Sri Lanka have Jaysuriya,Sangakkara(the best wickie batsment at present) and Jawardene. With blistering variations from Malinga and Vaas, they are well backed up by the best spinner at present Murali, with Jaysuria also handy with the bowl!

It will be action packed!

Since cricket is a game of uncertainties, nothing can be predicted correctly about the outcome of a tournament at this stage.

The fair prediction one can make at this stage is that all the top 8 teams stand a chance to win the world cup

Australia coz they play as a team and not as individuals. They strike right blows at the right time and their every defeat makes them stronger than b4.also they have numerous youngsters to back up the senior players.adam gilchrist is capable of fully utilising the powerplays, hussey ponting symonds clarke n watson can stabilise the innings despite initial breakthroughs.lee n mcgrath can come to the party anytime n everytime.all in all the team is a complete package.
