I need to know why you do or don't.

actually I do. My son has a friend that his mom is seriously ill and cannot work. We frequently send her money orders & cash in the mail so she cannot refuse the help. She is a wonderful person raising her son on her own. She often offers to babysit, etc for us so we can have a "date night" It makes me feel good knowing I can help someone in need because I was once in need and had no one. I know how difficult times can be, and if I know the person is doing the right thing (not a drug addict etc) then it makes me feel like I am at least doing my part as a human being.

yes. I think i do because we, as a family, are struggling (my husband and I are both in school) so I really can empathize with the fears associated with being on the down side.

yes. I like to donate to the shelters and church groups around my home.
I don't volunteer ---- that's something I need to try to get involved in too.

Yes for the most part.Sometimes they won't take help or get defensive because they don't want people to feel sorry for them.So it all depends.
