...is it because of the quality of the product, or the amount you've spent on the product?

depends on the product. i brought yesterday a white quilted bag for $24 at Afaze at the mall. the same bag i saw Rachel Bilson with in black with a Chanel seal on it costing $1,000 something dollars. i don't need the seal to get something nice;it's the much cheaper version that's all i need. quality is good on a electronic product like a cell phone i'd spend to have better quality when using my cellphone to make and receive calls. it's about how necessary you need to have a good product that works effectively. clothes, bags not needed.

Something being overpriced is very subjective, but I think it's overpriced when it's more expensive relative to another store. I usually factor in the quality when determining price. an example of something overpriced would be popcorn at the movie theater. I know you are at the movies, but come on now. Another example would be some fruits and veggies at the grocery store when you know you can get them cheaper at a market.

It's because you can get the same thing cheaper somewhere else.
