the arrow which says inlet inside of it is right in the center of the muffler thats why i'm asking this question because i'm not sure if it's pointing at the inlet or if that means direction of flow!

Those arrows normally indicate the direction of exhaust flow.... if at the inlet end, and pointing into the muffler, then exhaust should go into that end... the other end will be the tailpipe end.

It says inlet, so that is the end that goes on the exhaust pipe, "toward" the engine...

the arrow MUST be pointing toward the engine.
