I want to move my water turtles outside becauseinside they dont get much sunlight! I will be building a pond like thing outside on my roof! I live in Tenerife and the houses are flat topped! I want an outside pond for my water turtles where they can enjoy the heat all day and also absorb the sun! What should I buy to form the basics of the pond because I cant dig holes coz theres no soil! Someone told me to buy a kind of kiddie pool but I dont think thatll last too long! Help me please!

A good indoor pool is better than a bad outdoor pool. If the roof pond gets too hot, the turtles will have a hard time surviving. I'd try a quick experiment and put a big pan of water up there and see how hot it gets in the water before I did anything else.

If the temps are OK, there are several ways you can make a pond-
- kiddie pool- you can get good quality ones that hold up nicely
- large tub, like a plastic stock tank or pre-formed rigid pool liner
- lay out walls with timbers or lumber and line with heavy sheet plastic or rubber pool liner material.

Once you build the pond, make sure the turtles have access to cooler, shadier hiding places.

Make sure that the roof and ceiling will hold the weight of water and plants. It gets heavy and if the roof wasn't built for it, you may have more problems than your turtle living up there.
Rooftops get scortching hot.
Make sure that temps up there are survivable first.

A pond is great, but get trees and shrubs for shade and lots of hiding spots.

make it like a normal swimming pool but grow some water plants in it and try and get the water you put in it from a pond or lake.
