IOW - Does the conclusion you want decide which evidence is real, or does the evidence you gather decide which conclusion is real. True Scientific Method, which way is correct?

Evidence determines the conclusion. That's science. If you start with a conclusion and go out to proof it, that's creationism. Not science.

I prefer to call it starting with a "hypothesis" rather than starting with a conclusion. Many scientific experiments start out by postulating a hypothesis, and then accumulating test data to prove or disprove the hypothesis. The hypothesis could be looked at as starting with a "conclusion" and then seeing if the conclusion is valid by doing scientific testing using the scientific method.

Both are valid methods. We start with facts (evidence) and reach a valid conclusion sometimes. And we start with a hypothesis (it is not a conclusion, it is a theory) and see whether the evidence, facts support it or not. If the facts change, the hypothesis changes to a better fitting one.

It begins with a question. It may be how, why, when etc. The question answers itself the more information you gain surrounding it, and the deeper the cause is looked into.
