I've gone during Thanksgiving and I don't think it was that bad. It can be worse. But, it will be a lot busier than some of the other times and rooms are going to be selling at higher rates. If this is the only time you are able to go, it will be fine, but if you are able to go during another time, you may be able to save money and get more done.
All the parks are great, it is hard to choose which ones to go to and which ones not to go to. But my two favorites are Magic Kingdom and EPCOT, but I really enjoy them all. It also depends on the ages of those going, what you like to ride, etc.
How long in each park. If you go during a busier time, I would say at least two days. I would give each park two days anyway, there is a lot to see and you can miss a lot of things if you don't have enough time and it isn't as enjoyable. EPCOT and Magic Kingdom are the largest parks, so they need at least 2 days, Animal Kingdom and MGM could be done in less time, but to see everything, two days would be nice. I would go for at least a week to see as much as possible. There is also a lot to do outside of the park.
Hope this helps!

I went the thanksgiving just gone. I have never seen everywhere in the orlando as busy as that - even in the peak of summer!!! The shops were manic, there were 2hr + queing time on some rides. I've been to orlando for the past 8 years and I have never seen it like that. Also to top it off they had a freak spell of bad weather - it was 80 degrees for the first week and the second was just over 40 and it was gloves, scarf and bobble hat weather. I never thought the Magic Kingdom got so cold!!!
You will never get around all the parks so be selective before you go. You could spend 2-3days + in each park but that is dependant on the ques. If you like thrill rides Universal Island of Adventures is by far the best and MGM has a couple of good ones. You haven't experienced florida if you haven't been to Magic Kingdom - it's the best and it is absolutly impossible not to walk around like a little kid with a huge smile on your face - AMAZING!!!! Seaworld is really cool, the Shamu show is amazing - the best one is the last show of the day "Shamu rocks america". The sheer size of the whales are great but the dolphin show is better!!
All the parks are great - as I said be selective.
If you do decide to go for thanksgiving - one HUGE tip!!! Although the sales in the shops are amazing on black friday (day after thanksgiving) don't go to the shops because you will be stuck in traffic for HOURS!!! Locals told us it was the busiest shopping day in the year!! The sales start wednesday night so go then beacuse its much quieter. Also the walmarts and most stores close half day on thanksgiveing but all the parks are open.
Sorry I love Floriday and the parks and the people and everything else about it so I am extemely biased. When ever you go you will have a great great time!!! Send me a post card because I'm not going this year :'(

I've been there Jan 1st-5th and although some of the attractions outside of Disney were half operational for 'out of season' maintenance, we had a fantastic time.
The Christmas decorations are magical and the weather for us was good. Still very warm but not hot like in June.
I would recommend that you decide first what you want to do in Florida first, before deciding when to go.
Park Rides - Go when the parks are quiet (Jan/Oct)
Site seeing - Watch for the Summer storms
Outside shows - Again, these can be cancelled during storms.
Shopping - Anytime!
Your travel agent should be able to give you free planning DVD's and advise you on the seasonal weather patterns.
Enjoy!

i think a holiday to Florida for thanksgiving is a great idea as you can see how the Americans celebrate their holidays. the best parks to go to are universal studios, all of the Disney parks (blizzard beach, typhoon lagoon, magic kingdom etc...),if you go on international drive it may be a good idea to check out their indoor skydiving wind tunnel, you can either take part and have an experience in there or you can just sit in the viewing area and watch other people.

I'm going in april. Thanksgiving is one of the most crowded times, you could try getting a guide book Birnbaums 2007 from Amazon. But there are some rides where the queues go faster than others, but your gonna have to check it out.
