Just be as pleasant as possible, smile, and do not get provoked by anything he says or does. If you conduct yourself with class, it will show not only to him but those around you.

All you can do is to go in do the best you can and that's it. You have to be the bigger person and ignore his remarks, etc. Or you could tell him that all you want is for the store to be successful and it would be alot easier to achieve if you worked together as a team. It seems that no matter where you work there is always one person who just has to cause trouble. Don't let him get to you. Once he sees that he can't upset you, he will probably stop. Good luck!

It is interesting and revealing how you have phrased your question. HE does not get along with YOU? Not WE don't get along? And what is the significance of the the race? You also mentioned his age but not yours. And that statement about wanting the store to be the best it can be - could this by any chance signal that you tried to order him around and he ignored you?
What you can do is be respectful of other people regardless of their race or age. It is not your personal achievement that you are white and it is not his fault that he is old - if you live, you will be old one day too. Get over yourself.

Without any relevant details whatsoever, it's impossible to say.
What is it that happens, exactly?
Given that the only thing you mention is age and race, I suspect the problem is that you are prejudiced against this person due to his age, race, or both.
Get over it.
If there's some specific thing going on, tell us what it is. There's no way of knowing what, if anything, you can do, when we don't have any way of knowing what the &*$% you're talking about.

You need not worry.Jus let the things be as they are.Be on the look out,try to help him whenever you think he needs it .Be polite and affectionate to him.Whenever in store, try to talk with him on general matters. And remember, for a start try to make him look important. From yer statement,it appears u give more importance to Black-White,u might yourself be suffering from superiority syndrome and he on his part from a inferiority one, because of yer this attitude.Try to find out and rectify.

That sounds like myself at my job. I learned to just ignore the other person and eventually they will come around...or get fired.
