There's always going to be a controversy about what order to watch the Star Wars saga, but I do agree that the originals are what started it all and first got the huge fan base bewildered even with the fairly limited resources for special effects at the time. I am biased to the Fetts (Boba Fett and Jango Fett), so basically the movies with them in it the most are my faves. Attack of the Clones had a great fight scene between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Jango Fett, but the fight of Obi-Wan and Anakin Skywalker in Revenge of the Sith was great too. For best special effects, plot/story, etc...I think I would have to go with The Empire Strikes Back. It has so much happen in it, it lets us see Luke grow up a little more, and it brings insight into the budding relationship between a certain "scruffy-looking nerf herder" and his princess. Whether you chose to watch them in chronological or released order, enjoy and welcome to our far, far away galaxy...lol
(p.s.---I'm one of those rare females TOTALLY into Star Wars!! --at least in my area. I know online, I'm connected to many more :)

The order that the other person recommended is the order they came out originally. The original trilogy (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, & Return of the Jedi) were episodes 4, 5 & 6. Then Lucas created the "pre-quels" 1, 2 & 3. I don't think anything can top the original trilogy, but they're all great. And if you're going to watch 1 you should really watch them all. But to watch them from 1-6 or 4, 5, 6 then 1, 2, 3 is up to you. It's nice to watch 4, 5, 6 and then see how he ties everything together with 1, 2, 3. He really is a genius when it came down to it.

This is tailor made for me to answer. ALL OF THEM. There are two orders to watch them. The Original Order.
A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
Or in Chronological order
The Phantom Menace
Attack of the Clones
Revenge of the Sith
A New Hope
The Empire Strikes Back
Return of the Jedi
I recommend Watching them Twice in this Order, Original Order than Chronological Order. Pros and Cons of Each movie. (In Original Order
A New Hope: Ep IV
Pros: It sets up every movie in both trilogies. Good start to Defining the Characters and thier places in the Movies.
Cons: Acting is a Bit off as this is the First major Role for many of the actors. It drags down near the middle of the movie.
Rating: 3 1/2 of 5
The Empire Strikes Back: Ep V
Pros: Darkest Movie in Trilogy. Good job of making the Villains the main part of the Movie. First Appearance of Boba Fett. Acting is Better in this movie.
Cons: The Humor that is in the movie is lost in the context of the movie itself. When Luke Confronts Vader at the Very end of the movie, I thought is was a bit Overdramatic.
Rating: 5 of 5
Return of the Jedi: Ep VI
Pros: The Acting, Inspite of the screenplay, is Great. The Final Death Star Battle is the stuff of Movie Making legend. The Luke vs Vader grudge match ends in the Best 1 on 1 Lightsaber battle in Star Wars. Leia in the Slave Girl Outfit is sexy and Everyschoolboys Fantasy.
Cons: The Script is Horrible. Ewoks are too teddy bear like to believe them as creatures in the Star Wars Universe. Too much a Kiddy Film.
Rating: 2 1/2 of 5
The Phantom Menace: Ep 1
Pros: Darth Maul is the best Villain in Star Wars easily. The Podrace scene was incredible. The Locations were very well done. This Sets up Attack of the Clones Really well.
Cons: Darth Maul's Only appearance in a Star Wars film. Acting isn't Good. It isn't bad either. Jar Jar Binks is too annoying to be enjoyed. This Movie is made for Children. The Whole movie is one entire Subplot.
Rating: 1 1/2 of 5
Attack of the Clones: Ep II
Pros: Best acting of All the films. The Plot is One of the best in all the films. The Scenery in the film is absolutely Breathtaking and well concieved. Yoda Wields a Lightsaber for the first time.
Cons: Though Absolutely necessary, The Love scenes drag out Way too much. Than again it got my girlfriend at the time all hot and bothered. Oh well. Everything about Kamino down to the characters looks fake.
Rating 4 of 5
Revenge of the Sith: Ep III ( My Favorite Movie)
Pros: This is the Thinking mans Star Wars Movie. This Is Easily one of the Best concieved Films Ever, not just Star Wars Films. The Political intrigue and How it is used to manipulate is captivating. The Lightsaber Battle between Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker is the Absolute Best Fight Scene Ever. Period. No movie can outdo it.
Cons: Though I think Politics is a strength to this movie, it is also its weakness as It is the crutch to the whole movie. Darth Vader's Last Major scene when he yells NOOOOOOO is way too overdramatic.
Rating: 5 1/2 of 5
Sorry this is long winded. I hope this helped you though.

Reverse order, six through one
Try watching the entire series in reverse (start at end credits of Return of the Jedi and end with the opening crawl of The Phantom Menace)
