Yes. When you criticize your players as much as he does in the open and not behind closed doors you are not very much in control of your own self let alone a whole team.

I'm a huge Giants fan too...I believe that he should have been fired and then I thought..."We could be rebuilding..."...The team is not far away from a superbowl..albeit we have several GLARING needs on both offense and defense. With the hiring of Jerry Reese however, I saw them as looking at stability, so they kept Coughlin. Coughlin has made changes in his coaching staff with the hiring of Spagnuolo as DC and Gilbride as OC....Several factors will key their playoff run:

1. The Eli Manning dilemna - Will he finally get some consistancy? He looks brillant in the first half of the season, but disappears in the 2nd half...

2. The development of Brandon Jacobs. If he is our featured back, can he put up the numbers that we need?

3. Wide Receivers situation...I think Eli needs to work with ALL his receivers. That way he can gain trust in them if one or more go down....

4. That secondary is horrible!!!!.....With the new DC..expect to see a more aggressive ball hawking, blitzing style of D-fense....If Spagnuolo runs the 4-6, we'd better have the CB's and safeties who can cover man to man....

5. Can this team keep it together despite the iron fist rules are being applied again? We shall see

Yes because he lost complete control over that team. All the personal fouls and down right dumb penalties they had during the playoffs and the last eight games of the season are just unacceptable. The Gaints only got into the playoffs due to their play in begining of the season and the tie breakers they held. One more lost and they may not have made it.

I am a huge Giants fan and think they should have gotten rid of him. He has lost control of the team and his best players all say he is being out coached. My guess as to why he is still here is because he had the year left on the contract and I'm not sure with Barber retiring ,and the uncertainty of where this offense goes without him,it would make it difficult to attract the best possible candidates. A very tough town to coach in.

Where else but freakin' NY would a coach who made the play-offs get this crap?

Yes, the Giants should get Norv Turner.
(Is the sarcasm obvious or should I point it out?)

Tom N., you really take Shockey's word for it? Really?

No, the team made it to the playoffs which is hard to do in the NFL. Also all New York teams are overrated because of all the media there. The fans are too hard on their teams in new york
