What is the difference between 6-max Texas Hold 'em and Normal Texas Hold 'em?

I've searched the net far and wide and loads of people tell you the best tactics to use, but noone actually tells you what it is!!

poker coach, I had a feeling that was the difference, but I'd never seen it referred to as 6-max before. Cheers, there's a tournie coming up at the Uni soon that's described as this so I think I may give it a go. Cheers again

Well if you play an Holdem tournament, you sit at the table with 8/9 other players, that what you call"normal". But if you play a "short handed" tournament, the max of players at the table are 6. That's it.
You can play it as tournament, or cash games.
