Also, should we get the $35 per day "meal plan" or just go wherever we want? Please help! Thank you!

The meal plan is well worth the money, it is actually $38.99 per adult. It is a great plan and you get to eat at some of the nicer restaurants and still save money. (When you consider that it can be more than $10 for just a hamburger at Disney it shows how much money you can save) In my experience, I spend more than the cost of the dining plan just on my dinner. That means that my counter-service and snack cost me nothing for the day and I saved money on my main meal. Also, don't forget that the 19% tip is included, your drinks (non-alcoholic), appetizer, entree and dessert are all included as well.

If you know how to use the dining plan you will be well ahead with it. It is possible to eat for less at Disney, but you dont' get as nice of food and it isn't as convenient. For example, eating offsite may save you some money (if you have transportation to get around) you could eat at all counter-service meals (still about $10 per person and the hamburgers can get old for your meals) you could also make or bring your own food (but you must have a place to cook the meals which cost more, you spend the time from your vacation cooking and if you get the groceries in Orlando, they cost a little more than they do at home) So I just prefer to go with one of the plans, it is a lot nicer that way, for me anyway.

As far as where to eat, it really depends on where you are going to be and what kind of food you like. Some of my favorites are Le Celliers, Victoria and Alberts, Tony's Town Square, Coral Reef, Bistro de, Paris, Les Chefs de France, San Angel Inn, and the list goes on and on. If you need some more recommendations or ideas, please let me know, I go to Disney all the time!

I've found that getting info on the dining plan that really helps you plan is kind of hard. I've included a link to one of the best guides I have found so far. It also lists where you can eat, not all the restaurants are on the plan, but a good majority of them are.

Have a great time!

A lot of the restaurants in Epcot are great - Italy, Japan, and France, specifically. There's also a fun restaurant in MGM that has decent food but such a fun atmosphere called the 50s Prime Time Cafe. I've never done the $35 per day meal plan, but if there are no specific restaurants you want to hit, I imagine the meal plan is cheaper. They provide it in the hopes that you will still go out for some meals and then you're paying twice.

$35 does not sound like a good deal to me, but I don't eat much. I would suggest staying away from the cheap food at the hotel because it poisoned me so much it almost ruined my vacation. The best dinner I had was at the Crystal Palace Character Buffet. I missed out on the Cuban food at the mall in Pleasure Island (can't remember the name of the restaurant) which is run by Gloria Estefans' family using family recipes.

We started every day at Bob Evans for a big breakfast, which is worked off so quickly with all the walking you do at the park!!

We've done the meal plan and felt like we came out ahead just paying as we went. I know others who think the food plan is the way to go...
Regardless, we like Alfredo's in Italy most of all and Mexico is great too. For quick food, China is the way to go. On the Boardwalk, Spoodles is very good. The Polynesian's Luau is fun and the food is good. I've also heard good things about Tony's and the Crystal Palace.

The meal plan actually comes out to about $50 a day per person. It is a great deal, but the discount only really kicks in if you stay 5 days or longer. If you plan to stay less than 5 days, I recommend you just dine wherever you choose and not worry about the dining plan.
The Disney Dining Plan has a ton of great options. And you can always trade in one of your sit down meals for a nicer meal such as a dinner show or character dining buffet.

Here is a list of my favorite and highly recommended restaurants at Disney:

Best all-you-can-eat buffets: (cost $20-$35 per person):
Boma - Animal Kingdom Lodge
Cape May - Beach Club Resort
Ohana's - Polynesian Resort
1900 Park Fare - Grand Floridian (character dining)

Best Romantic restaurants: (cost: $15 on up per person):
Coral Reef - EPCOT (living seas pavilion)
Showgun Tepenyaki Dining Room - EPCOT (Japan Pavilion)
Victoria & Albert's - Grand Floridian (VERY pricey)
Jiko the Cooking Place - Animal Kingdom Lodge
Bongos - Downtown Disney Marketplace
California Grill - Contemporary Resort (great sushi and view!)

Best sit-down locations: (cost: $9-$17 on up per person):
50s Prime Time Cafe - Disney Studios
Kona Cafe - Polynesian Resort
Wolgang Puck's - Downtown Disney
Nine Dragons - EPCOT - China Pavilion
Mama Melrose's - Disney Studios - rear of park

Best Dinner Shows: (cost: $45 per person on up):
Disney's Spirit of Aloha Dinner Show - Polynesian Resort

Best quick service locations: (cost: $7-$13 per person):
Casey's Corner - Magic Kingdom / Main Street
Tiki Lounge - Magic Kingdom/Adventureland (try the dole float!)
Pizzafari - Animal Kingdom
Tusker House - Animal Kingdom

For all of these restaurants (with the exception of the quick service locations), you'll want to make reservations way in advance. You can make them up to 180 days before your trip. Call 407-WDW-DINE.

Best Rest. located off Disney property:

* Houlihan's - located off hwy 192 in Kissimmee near hwy marker #4 (amazing food and wine list)
* Uno's Pizzaria - located just outside Downtown Disney in Lake Buena Vista
* Medieval Times - located off Hwy 192 in Kissimmee - great dinner show
* Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville - located at Universal's City Walk

inspect the Orlando technology center...very fingers on - youngsters like it!!! Hit the sea coast and have a glance on the KSC targeted visitor center for an afternoon...over at Astronaut hall of popularity they have simulators and stuff that he would love. you are able to also do an airboat excursion...over in the ST John's close to fort christmas (this can be a chilled historic website to study out) i'm no longer huge into relaxing eating places...I say eat more low priced and revel in additional beneficial sights.
