Successful only if the goal was to have the US lose support of not only it's key allies, but the rest of the world as well.
I don't understand why people will argue based upon what any other past administration has done. This isn't a presidential popularity contest. This isn't about one party being better than the other. Neither party represents a clear majority in this country, but bear in mind, Americans are a clear minority when considering the global population. This is about how our country and our citizens are viewed by the rest of the world.
This administrations policy of "might is right" should cause great anxiety to the rest of the world. It will take decades of diplomacy to dig the US out of the hole that Bush has placed us in with his pathetic, bumbling, ill-conceived foreign policy.

Putin was a KGB true Blue Commie from the word GO. He has just been seething over his countries inability to influence anything. The shootings at the School and Theater a few years back prove he has more to fear from the 200 million Muslims on his borders than any other country on earth outside of Israel. Chavez is a Drunk with a whole country to rape and someday the Party will end! The British Are faithful Allies and will remain so. This a a UN problem Not ours any downward spiral reflect worse on the UN then the US. If we Pull supporting troops from UN engagements all treaties will fail and we will have the Opportunity to sit back and watch as WW3 goes on without us.

Koala,
You didn't answer the question. The question didn't even mention Clinton.
Bush has not made us safer or less safe. I think he is now viewed as a lame duck- by Americans and other countries as well. The truth is that none of the countries you mention are really that powerful. China and Korea are the most worrisome for our future. If anything, the Iraq conflict took our attention away from keeping an eye on them.

Typical lib who thinks that our policies should be based and idiots like Putin and Chavez. Has the President made us safer? Well, you tell me how many attacks we've had on our soil since 9/11 and then you answer the question. We've had the terrorists and insurgents on the run ever since and they haven't had the time to do anything but elect a cut & run lib and watch how fast that happens. Every time I read a post like this I believe more and more that Bin laden was correct. Americans have lost their will and their courage and are nothing but a paper tiger. Thank you for reinforcing the world's greatest terrorist.

Wow--people actually think you're saying Putin and Chavez are respectable sources on the Truth About America, instead of (as I read it) saying that they are an indication of unrest about America in the rest of the world. I guess it's easier to argue against the first (which you didn't say) -- or, bewilderingly, to attack Clinton again, like some Tickle-Me Elmo with a present number of programmed outbursts--than to refute what you're really saying.
I wholly agree with you. We're alienating allies and enemies alike, not to mention the UN, and like the schoolyard bully who goes around pushing people down because he thinks he can get away with it forever--nobody gets away with it forever. The sooner we can get leadership who starts trying to mend fences, the better.

I Just think that the Presidents of those countries on a personal level don't like Bush, I wouldn't say they hate every single American! You can't really know what good Bush has done because his successes are being overshadowed by his failures in Iraq! And remember Kids we are still in Afghanistan. All those countries don't want to help in Iraq fine... who needs them:p

Until foreign troops are landing on both coasts I'll continue to feel just a safe as I ever did. No president has ever had an impact on how safe I feel. Is this a successful presidency? For Bush it is. He's getting everything he wanted.

Warren G. Hardings' presidency was said to be the most useless and lauging stock of American history until the second Bush came in. He has pissed more people off in a matter of 8 years than any one person alive on earth. Sadam didnt even piss that many off....thats right he just killed them. I honestly think Bush has made America an unsafe place to live.
