and for those of you who had it all through your pregnancy, was there anything you could do or eat which made it ease, if only a little bit?

I was queasy all the way through my pregnancy but the severe all day sickness lifted at around 14 weeks - I just woke up one day feeling more human.

None of the natural remedies worked for me - ginger nuts, crystallised ginger, preggie pops - they all made me feel worse and eating a dry biscuit first thing in the morning made no difference at all! I had to be given cyclizine as I wasn't coping. Its an anti-emetic which is safe to use in pregnancy.

The one thing that made some difference was a bowl of porridge when I got up as I think it filled me up and settled my stomach for a few hours.

I had the worst morning sickness with my second child. The first and third babies I was not sick a day. My morning sickness lasted well into the second trimester. It was a lot longer than I had anticipated. At the beginning of the pregnancy I was not able to keep prenatal vitamins down. I found that bland food was best. Try plain whole wheat toast for breakfast. Avoid anything greasy or spicy. There is one miracle cure. Pure mint oil. It is an essential oil. It can be rubbed on the belly and sniffing for mild nausea. You can put a few drops in water and drink it or place one drop on the tongue for sever cases. It also helps with heart burn. I suggest the brand Young Living. If you do not want to order on-line you can go to local health food stores. But you really want to make sure that it is therapeutic grade essential oil that is approved for topical and ingestion. It worked wonders for me. I wish I would have found out about it sooner in the pregnancy. My morning sickness did not go away instantly but within a week I went from puking to eating salsa!

I had horrible morning sickness to the point where all I could do was lay down, eat bland food and barley move. My OB prescribed Premesis it has vitamin B6 and B12 and is made for women with extreme nausea WOW what a lifesaver. I used to take my vitamin at night because my original one would only make me more nauseous. With the Premesis I take it as soon as my feet hit the floor in the AM and other than a few small "waves" of nausea I feel great. Good Luck!!!
To answer your other question with my daughter I wasn't as sick but it did seem to just gradually go away and then one day it seemed like it was just gone.

I was unfortunate and was sick for the whole 9 months with my 4 pregnancies . It started from about 7 weeks til the day they were all born . I had certain craving for each pregnancy but nothing that stopped the sickness .. My last baby i absolutely craved drinking chocolate made with hot milk but had to have a glass of pure grapefruit juice on hand too . I went through litres of grapefruit juice daily and it was the only thing i didn`t bring up .It wasn`t that making me so sick before anyone mentions it .
My second pregnancy was the worst affected with sickness , i was being sick through the night everynight , it was awful . I used to have to eat a packet of plain crisps every morning at 4am , isn`t it funny what our bodies do ..

Oops forgot to say i had to be prescribed cyclizine at around 30 weeks with my pregnancies but i was to scared to take them so just persevered . Goodness knows why but i never was dehydrated .

I had morning sickness for the first 4-5 months and it went away gradually. I had it really bad though, I couldnt even get close to the father of the baby. All I could eat was salty crackers and quesadillas from taco bell lol

I had hypermesis so badly with this pregnancy that I was hospitalized and placed on a mobile reglan pump to continuously pump medication into my blood stream.
Last week, at 16 weeks, I went to a funeral and took enough medicine in the syringes to last two days. I ended up staying four days and ran out. When I got back though, the hypermesis almost instantly disappeared. So for me it ended all at once.
Aside from the medication, the tips that helped me was to keep my stomach full or at least have something in it at all times. Everytime I'd get up to pee in the middle of the night, I'd eat one or two crackers or even some toast. (they say it helps to keep the stomach acid absorbed)
Good Luck!

The only time it disappeared for me was when I gave birth. I was very unlucky though, the midwife said that I was the first person she had ever known to have perpetual sickness throughout my pregnancy.
Update:
The only thing that helped me was to sip water and eat a ginger biscuit before I got up in the morning, it didn't stop the sickness but it enabled me to be able to get out of bed without feeling too queasy.

Hi, my all-day sickness was awful and it gradually faded between 12 and 20 weeks ( different stage for each of my pregnancies - I've had four ). I found that sucking mints really helped me to keep the nausea under control, and make sure you eat regularly, as hunger or low blood sugar levels can make the nausea and vomiting worse.

i had sickness all day and all night with both of my children. i tried everything to help ease it, but nothing worked, the doctor wasnt concerened as me and baby were putting on weight. My trick was to eat every 2 hours at least then not everythuing would come back up.
i did find that tea and coffee made me feel more sick though and i cut them out. also being around smokers. i was a smoker myself, but the smell just made me sick.
the only time my sickness stopped was once i gave birth.
they do say though that ginger biscuits help, they didnt with me, but try them and see if they help. just eat little and often, that does make it easier

hi i had morning sickness or like you put it all day sickness from 5 weeks to 18 weeks, yes i did wake up one morning and was pleasantly surprised not to have my head down the toilet for once lol. i found that fizzy drinks helped as they bloated me out and i didnt feel so hungry, also sucking boiled sweets took my mind off it while at work. crackers before i got up didnt help one bit, nor did dry toast, in fact i had something to throw up rather than stomach acid in the morning. bbq's were the worst, i would throw up straight away so i had to avoid meat. i found a fantastic aromatherapy scent by avent future mothers called sleep easy essence, that helped no end at night to settle me to sleep. good luck hope it doesn't last too much longer for you xxxx
