What are you looking with?

To the naked eye: 6,000 are visible, but only about 2,000 at any one time
With binoculars: 50,000 stars
With a telescope with a 2 inch lense: 300,000 stars
With a telescope with a 16 inch lense: about 100,000 Galaxies !!! (not stars)

If you mean visible with and without any aids, check out Wizebloke above.

If you want all stars, no one knows. We continue to find that there are galaxies in the universe we did not know existed as our detection capabilities get better.
