i have had the gas out and its not that also had a plumber and the pest control been under the floor boards and there is nohting there. the smell has been there since xmas and its only in one room. it does smell a bit like gas and a bit like sewage

Ok start by isolating rooms. Close all the doors in your house. In each room use fabric freshener and air freshener, towel the bottom of the doors if necessary. In a day or two you will be able to isolate the smell to a particular room or area, then take that room or area apart piece by piece, if could be a piece of furniture or carpet that is causing the smell but you will never know until you isolate it. Do you have carpet in this room? Maybe durning Christmas something got spilled. Try cleaning the carpet, if you do have it. Are you the only one spelling this? If not, get someone in the house to help you figure this out.

Wow...you don't say what it smells like! Dirty socks? Natural gas? Dead mouse in the wall?
