I'm almost afraid join the foodfight here. But just to add a touch of reality . . .

Though I was very unhappy with Carter's presidency, he didn't mess "everything" up. For instance, he made credible progress toward bringing long term peace to the Middle East. Do you remember the Camp David Accords? That's why Egypt and Israel are no longer mortal enemies.

As for Reagan, he did a lot of good, but he didn't "fix everything." For instance, he promised that he could increase defense spending, cut taxes, and end the budget deficit. Well, most serious people thought doing the first two would make the third impossible. When that turned out to be the case, he said, "Two out of three ain't bad." Well, it was the third one that was the hard one! Under Reagan we saw our first 100 billion dollar annual deficit. Then we saw our first 200 billion dollar deficit. He got the ball rolling so hard that George H.W. Bush was able to produce our first 300 billion dollar deficit. So unless budget deficits don't matter to you, I don't see how you can honestly say Reagan fixed "everything."

By the way, under Clinton, amazingly enough, budget deficits were eliminated for the first time in many years. We actually started running a surplus and began paying off the national debt. George W. Bush, of course, has put an end to that and we once again have historic deficits. It's hard to blame the Democrats for this one since when Bush took the White House the Republicans controlled both houses of Congress.

All this is simply to say that history isn't as simple or black and white as you make it sound.

And by the way, instead of a simple thumbs down if you don't LIKE what I've said, how about some logical, literate responses disputing my comments with facts?

Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan were the biggest reasons I became a Republican.
Carter was the absolute worst President ever. He let Iran run roughshod over us with the hostage situation, we saw gas rationing and now he has proven he is a Jew hater.
Carter embarrased me and our entier country.
Reagan ended the Cold War without firing a single shot, and was strong enough to prompt the useless Liberals into screaming he would start WWIII.
Sounds kind of familiar, doesnt it?

America has been in a sorry state from DAY ONE.

You need leaders who focus on YOU GUYS, and not on occupying and owning the rest of the world...it will never happen, that's a guarantee.

How much money has Bush wasted on this RIDICULOUS war!!! You could have paid the healthcare of Americans off for the next twenty years with the billions wasted on Iraq.

Face it, none of your presidents ever cared enough for it's people to do good by any of you.

Maybe JFK could have, but all the good guys seem to get knocked off.

Think before you speak, because you're not going to cure the problem by sticking your finger in the dam hole there.

You'd be able to feed your families just fine if all your money didn't get sucked up by healthcare costs. Fight but fight for the right things.

I want to thank Ronald Reagan he is one of the reasons i switched from being a Republican to being Democrat.
Eight years of an actor playing the role of a president and usual it was B-movie and Ronnie still does not get the woman.

Right wing conservative polices, the influence of the religious right now control the Republican Party pushing their agenda on the American public.

Eight years of deficit spending his promise to balance the budget. Tax cuts for the rich they would spend money to create more jobs in the USA. Sell arms to Iran all in the name of patriotism.

Sweetheart, look at the facts- The economy was better under Clinton. The U.S had a surplus under Clinton. Bush has spent all the surplus, put us in a debt that our grandchildren will have to pay and ruined the economy. Bush is the reason for it, NOT any future president that has to raise taxes to pay for Bushes mistakes. He doesn't care because he won't be in office when the money has to be paid back. Therefore, people like you with short term memories won't blame him.
