I also like reading what I call hood books: Eve, Bad Girlz, Candy Licker, G-Spot, Baby Girl, Around the way girls, True to the Game, Hustler's Wife. Just to name a few.
I like reading books in a series too. I am currently reading The Forsaken by L. A. Banks. I the first book is call The Minion. It's about vampires and fighting evil. I really like it and enjoying the love story between Damali and Carlos. Francine Pascal for young teenagers but I got hook on it ~ The fearless series. It's about a girl born without the fear gene. Jean M. Auel series. The Clan of the Cave Bear is the first book. Tim LaHaye Left Behind series. I apologies if I got some of the authors or tittles wrong. I was going off the top of my head. Have a good read.
