Ideas for Cena advancement?

If you have any theories on how Cena can be devloped please post them here.

As an example, here is an idea I had

Creative starts showing Cena displaying major distress at all of the negativity showed towards him, which is somewhat real life anyway and sorta breaking kayfabe but also part of the script as well.

He is losing it, and his mental stability is under serious question. We see him in vignettes going crazy, angry and eventually breaking down. He begins to relive his easier wrestling past when he was Prototype and allowed to show his full array of wrestling talent. He begins self mutilation (don't ask me how this can be achieved but I am sure it can) but he doesn't see blood when he cuts his wrists (we do) he sees metal, an android. Over time, the belief he is his old self, the OVW android Prototype is reaffirmed in Cena's mind. He tints his hair blond, works out to get more bigger again, and starts wearing trunks. Gone are the rapping and marine ways (hisreallife pesonality)

and in comes this Prototype HEEL character.

evil, vicious, nasty and jst plain rude to everyone. He disavows all knowledge of his "chain gang", he is in serious denial. He also shows more wrestling prowess, and is more serious and less lame and watered down.

Yes this idea may alienate his fickle fans and be bad for business, but I think in the long run it would be good for him.

Think about it, it may well crash and burn but even if it foes it was worth it and there is always the safety net of him recovering and going back to the old face Cena, who jst had problems for a while. At least WWE could TRY SOMETHING NEW WITH THIS GUY.

Take the belt off him and focos on some heel character for a while, Prototype would be perfect.

Stop catering to the bandwagon mark fans who will be long gone when he is (apologies to intelligent Cena fans)

What do you all think, and do you have any insight of your own?

I think it is a nice line of thought but it all rests on him having the talent to fulfil it

as i say it isnt the only possibilty and opportunity, jst something which entered my mind the other day seeing some of his OVW work again in a youtube video. I am quite sharp with these things.

I am jst setting the framework, obviously creative would fine tune the intricacies, but I see what you mean about turning his real character heel, I jst think this would be a more shocking avenue to explore and lends itself to that feeling of am identity crisis

The question here is, would we go with the identity delusional crisis angle or your idea of he knows exactly who he is and is glad to change and live the ego trip

Both are plausible, and decisions like that are what makeor break geniuses

Yea Smile that was the problem, i don't see how they can give the illusion of him physcially self harming, but any other way to promote the metal not blood concept as yuo suggest would be plausible

HBK and Cena fan I agree, even if no as prototype, Cena in any capacity as a heel has to be better than this.

the guy is being held back, but I hope he cares about more than the cash

I kind of like your idea, but let's change it up a bit:

Cena, after (finally) losing his title to HBK, reaches out for a handshake, only to lift the new champ into an FU. Then (to re-introduce Prototype), he begins cutting promos and re-building his physique and ring presence. His promos would be something like this:

"No Superstar, young, old, living or DEAD, can stop me! I'm the damn Prototype of the perfect man!!"

This way, the prototype gimmick has more of a nickname feel then him changing his name altogether. When he finally does return (about Vengeance, give him some time to put it all together) we see Cena return, challenging Batista to show his power. But not "You Can't See Me" Cena, but a tall, bleach blonde powerhouse who breaks anyone in his way!

In other words, Hybrid. If it worked for the Taker, it might work for Cena. Might.

Why exactly is his "advancement" completely changing him?

Look at Shawn Micheals, he's still the heartbreak kid, but in a matter of weeks he's practically turned DX heel. Randy Orton is the same, but he's been face turned heel and gotten gold and a shot for a number one contenders match.

Not saying this is a bad idea. Actually, I think it's a great idea when Cena loses the belt. (but maybe executed differently)

Oh, and on your idea of him slitting his wrist and seeing metal, not sure how that will work, but you can have him get beat up and he'll look at his blood and scream things like, "it's metal", "I don't bleed blood" etc etc.
Then when they do recaps they can digitally change the color of his blood to look more metallic, silver-like.

I'll just be glad when HBK takes the belt off him.Maybe he can turn heel & join Rated-RKO.He needs a change of persona - that marine thing is just plain boring now.We've seen the film! Time to move on!

i think that is a cool idea, but i really liked him when he was rapping and dissing his opponents. i really wish they would turn him heel before wrestlemania and hbk could be the face and they could have a classic at wmania.

You can NOT expand a one dimensional person. he has the same gimmick and acting style for a reason because he doesnt have the capacity in his brain to even chew gum and walk let alone do some acting as in your senario.
