It could be any number of things besides thrush a symptom of AIDS. Your tongue can reflect your health. IF it is painful and sore I would see a doctor. Otherwise try gargle with salt water and see if that clears it up. My dentist gives me a tongue scraper which I hate to use but works.

For your HIV test. It can take three months for the virus to turn up in your blood stream. If you had one after a certain incident of unsafe behavior it's best to wait three months and/or repeat the test later. Check with the place you had your test.

It could be plaque. Try brushing your tongue. If it does not come off when you brush it, see a doctor.

My tongue had white cottage-cheese looking stuff on it when I had mono.

its probally just plaque , you have to brush your tounge also .
