To me professional behavior in customer service type atmosphere is: Being polite on the telephone, being knowledgeable with the advise you would be giving to the customer about the product they are calling about. Know how to resolve the question without offending the customer.

Being pleasant no matter what kind of mood your in. Setting aside your own personal problems and putting the customer first! Treating the customer the way you would want to be treated and with prompt service. Always keep a smile on your face, be friendly and down to earth. Show them you care even if your having a bad day or not feeling well.I am a dental assistant and always make it a point to be pleasant. You will find that you are rewarded at the end of the day jus knowing that you made someone feel comfortable and eased their anxieties. I get alot of complements on my behavior and my boss hears them as well. So thats also a plus !

That statement covers everything from inapporpriate dress, cell phones, sexual behavior to allowing your customer to sit and have a cup of coffee while paperwork is processing.
