I think he should just let him retire as a Yankee like sign a 1 day contract and retire like Jerry Rice.

They didn't exactly "let him go" They offered Bernie a non-guaranteed Minor League contract which it appears that Bernie will decline. As much as I am a fan of Williams, I believe that it is time for him to let go retire as an active player and remain in some other capacity with the Yankee organization. it would be probably in the best interest for both parties involved

Please take off those pinstriped blinders.
Bernie Williams WAS a very, very good player. But the emphasis is on the WAS. He is now a mere shadow of his old self on the field. The only thing that the Yankees are doing is helping him to see that if he continues to try to play, he will only embarrass himself.
Williams needs to learn the lessons that Joe DiMaggio taught all athletes. Have the grace and common sense to retire when you can't play any longer.
Bernie Williams will be feted very nicely by the Yankees when he does understand this and retires on his own.

They haven't released him yet,and they shoudn't.I'm not a Yankee fan but I've always liked him.I feel bad for him because he IS the last connection with the Yankees of the mid 1990's.You could say Jeter is too but he was just a rookie.

If he retires, it will be as a Yankee. I don't think he will sign with any other team,so you get your wish there, and they know that they can't play the past, they want to win now. It is his decision not to accept a minor league contract.
