Humanist,
At the risk of straying too far from the intent of your question, I will nominate you. It could just as easily be the next person I pass on the street. Why forgiveness for a complete stranger? Why would I ask this for some one I have never met? Because I see in you, as so many others, the potential to do far greater things, the potential to be more to become more, to do more, to make a positive mark on the world. Whether you are right or wrong, you deserve mercy as much as the next person, and particularly you, perhaps because you inquire, you strive to shed light upon injustice. You, and any common person deserve mercy.
Now that you've got me thinking though, you don't need mercy. Why? From what? To my knowledge you have done nothing to require mercy from. You, I will wish you well in striving toward your potential. I will change my answer.
I will nominate the pope because to have such power and to promote the suffering of humanity through superstition and ignorance seems to me to be someone in need of mercy. To focus the minds of one's followers on distractions and promote suffering to me seems someone who needs to pled for mercy.
If you desire an example, how about Africa where the spread of HIV is increased because the teaching promoted to the ignorant that the cannot use condoms because it is a sin. The only logic that does not defy explanation is the lust for power. Again, I will take back my nomination. Does such an educated man deserve mercy?
I will nominate the common man, for being ignorant, for being weak, for falling prey to those who hold power and abuse them. The common man who is like a child that never became educated before falling prey to those who possessed power over him.
No, better yet, the common man who has some power, who can vote and still elects those who are evil.
Sorry your question boggles my mind with possibilities.

All the politicians that say they will help the electorate do what they want when they are campaigning, and when they get to Washington, they vote for the bills that give tons of money to big oil, big pharma, insurance, banking because they get their pockets filled with big money. Actually, I would like to revoke my nomination, because if there is a hell, they deserve to be there.

I can think of many but cannot decide on just one over the last 500 years that would deserve it more than the others.

Pauly Shore
He tried to be funny (and I thought he was) but, the American public has wasted a lot of money on his movies.

'Should' or 'can' ? God promises mercy for all if we confess our sins and take 'action' to correct our sins . We're all sinners, so that 'could' include EVERYONE !!!
