Yes HSBC are every where. However if you transfer any money from another country you will pay the same regardless of your banks. They follow Spanish banking laws ans sorting facilites. It may be better to find a good, recognized bank that is very handy to your home in Spain. If you want a recognizable name - Barclays is in Spain as well.

Yes they are all over the map including in Spain. But their international operations are separate from the U.S. operations and this translates into "if you are trying to do some major withdrawing or other significant transactions, you might have to go through additional paperwork since there isn't 100% synergy between the two." They might even charge you some fees, that you'll have to negotiate to get waivered.
