i really do feel like my dog is a member of my family we cuddle every night and sometimes he gets under the covers and sleeps with me

Definitely. I feel that more about my dogs than the cats I used to have when I was a little girl. Dogs are kind of like babies, or toddlers. They become either your child, or your best friend.
When I was a little girl I thought of them as my siblings because I'm an only child.
But really, when you get a pet, that pet IS a member of your family!
That's why you got it! DUH! =P

Dogs, birds and cats? Absolutely. Most fish and reptiles or insects? No. I have had a couple of fish (large Cichlids) down through the decades with such personalities that I had that feeling toward them (and they toward me?). Pets are wonderful! It is so sad to lose one too. My family and I often stop and remember our Great Pyrenees when we pass by his grave as we walk our property. Maybe he is still standing guard over the peacocks and chickens on his mound.......

Ofcourse... they're family already. I believe that when you have a pet, a sense of responsibilty will be developed, and you'll learn how to love and really value someone.. . Everytime my pets get sick im very worried as much as im worried when my siblings get sick.

Yes, definately. We have 3 cats right now and don't know what we would do without them. They are unique in their own little way and they keep us entertained.

yes, we have a dog and a cat, when i cook i cook extra for them,,,,,, make sure they have attention every day,,, hang up stockings for them at Christmas etc,,,,, even though technically they are my teen daughters pets, lol, the cat and dog act like siblings, with the little cat being older and bossy to the big dog!

To be honest with you me and my family dog do not get along so well. But i still must say that it definitely would not be the same with out her.

Yes, my dog was a part of our family. He died from cancer last year
