It's an ignorant double standard that should be discarded. I wear women's clothing now full time, but I get a lot of grief over it. My family (outside of my mother and sister) won't have anything to do with me. I lost a job over it. People look at me like I have a contagious disease. It's really dumb on their part. What am I hurting by dressing the way I want?

I went to a party last night and half the men there were crossdressed and they were accepted just fine.
I wouldn't go into a bible study and expect to be accepted with open arms. I wouldn't go to Iran and expect to accepted with open arms. I also wouldn't be accepted at a KKK meeting. However I am accepted with open arms in the BDSM community, because those are my people and we speak the same language.
Society in general doesn't really give a rats a** what you are doing as long as you aren't harming someone else. Yahoo Answers isn't society in general, its a cross section of a computer bulletin board, where people can easily be negative because no one is going to hold them accountable. In real life, these people would never say the things they do to anyone's face, they are cowards for the most part.
There is nothing wrong or unaccepted by men crossdressing. However, don't make yourselves a target, stay within your own community. That's how life works.

They do as part of the Irish culture. If a man wants to cross dress or be a drag queen no one is going to stop him. A woman wearing mens clothing isn't as ridiculous looking as a man wearing womens attire. And there is nothing wrong with the picture. There are more serious situations where women get biased against too and it's the men who come out ahead. More important than who can wear what clothes!

They can in Scotland and even Whales, I think. It used to be perfectly acceptable in England. Styles change. If you want to wear a skirt, try it. But please forget the make up. Be sure to wear tights to cover the repulsive hairy legs and whatever. In Scotland they just wear knee high socks. Let's hope you don't want to be a flasher, which is against the law. But choose a skirt with some real class. Kilts look very nice.

A skirt is a feminine item of clothing. I myself would never want to a see a man walking down the street with a mini skirt on. You just have to understand that is is not right and it is different when women do it. For women it's not even looked at as being cross dressing. Women can wear men's clothing but men can't wear ours!

In Scotland not only are men encouraged to wear skirts, many people wait with bated breath for a gust of wind.

I personally think men can't handle the fact they don't ALL look good in skirts! Can anyone remember the big fuss over England's former captains sarong? Point being he looked good, the average man wouldn't have looked as good...

hi... i totally agree, this is the worst double standard of them all out there in society. but you know, times are finally changing. the teenagers out there of today's world are more open and accepting of stuff. once the baby boomers retired and get out of main stream society, us younger folks will finally be able to take control of the world and dress the way we want to dress..
