That's an easy answer because they sure would NOT claim it was a good system simply because they wanted control and get in there to rule the roost. If you want to get in anywhere and you meet resistance , first thing you gotta do is to run the present one into the ground . If enough people listen you are in like Flin .If they don't listen you can pull more dirty tricks to help persuade them. Works every time .
P.S.. 'Weimar is spelled with the 'e' before the 'i' .
An old university town and very picturesque .

because it was politically expedient.

a careful look at german history will demonstrate far more continuity between WWI and WWII than is usually assumed.

for instance, the rearmament of the german army, navy and airforce was worked on by individual members of german industry without any break between WWI and WWII.

they were simply waiting for the strong man that they assumed would rise in germany.

but also weimar oversaw absolute runaway inflation of german currency - to such a degree that when it was at it's worse a wheelbarrow full of currency was needed to buy a loaf of bread.

germans staked a lot on winning the first world war. not winning was not even imaginable to many of them.

the british helped to advance the myth that the german soldier didn't get proper support from home and that they were 'stabbed in the back.' which was absolutely preposterous of course.

all of this set the table for the sabotage of th weimar republic, and the rise of the 3rd reich.

but those who think that weimar was a noble experiment need to take a closer look...
