band camp is just a bunch of rock bands...we went last year..and he had a blast...

As long as the band camp goes along with his taste in music I think it is a great idea.
Since the camp is unlikely to begin on Valentines day you might want to throw in something that could gratify him immediately as well, like a coupon for a back message to be redeemed any time he wants it.
