I also am not anywhere close to being photogenic. I find the pictures I absolutely love are candid ones I didn't actually realize were being taken. I've tried practicing in a mirror. Tilt your face and smile different ways and see what you think looks nice. (Your know Paris Hilton's famous sideways glace...she uses it EVERY photo!) Hopes this helps!!

Smile and don't look straight at the camera. You're a brunette with olive skin, I don't believe you can take a bad photo. You just need to accept that you are more beautiful that you think.

Maybe you should try to look at yourself in the mirror first and see your best angle... if you look better when you're kinda facing your left then next time when you're being shoot for pics... you know you're at your best in that angle, you know your how to pose then.

find your perfect smile and angle in front of a mirror,
then take a lot of photo of yourself using digital camera or cellphone,
when you find the best picture, practise to look exactly like that.
good luck

don't try to make funny faces, or stand too stiff or anything. be yourself, be relaxed, forget about the camera. i used to have the same problem, until i learned to see the camera as another person
