Cedar Point is a 364 acre (1.5 km²) amusement park located in Sandusky, Ohio, USA on a narrow peninsula jutting into Lake Erie. It is one of the world's largest amusement parks (by ride count) with 68 rides including 16 rollercoasters (17 with the addition of Maverick, debuting in May 2007) and has the world's second tallest and second fastest roller coaster, Top Thrill Dragster. The park also has a mile-long white sand beach, two water parks (Soak City and Castaway Bay), two marinas, several hotels, and "Challenge Park" featuring attractions such as go-karts and miniature golf. Known as "America's Roller Coast", Cedar Point has been voted "Best Amusement Park in the World" by Amusement Today for the past nine years.

The park opened in 1870 and is the second oldest amusement park in North America after Lake Compounce. Cedar Point is the flagship park for the Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. company and, along with Valleyfair!, was one of the original parks in the company.

Cedar Point's normal operating season runs daily from early May through Labor Day, then for eight weekends following Labor Day. The park is scheduled to open for the 2007 season on Saturday, May 12.

Kings Island is a 364 acre (1.5 km²) amusement park located in the city of Mason, in Warren County, Ohio. The park is located 24 miles (39 km) northeast of Cincinnati. The park owns close to 775 acres (3.2 km²) of land, but only 364 acres (1.5 km²) are currently developed. Kings Island is owned by Cedar Fair Entertainment Co., and was part of the former Paramount Parks chain that Cedar Fair acquired from CBS Corporation on June 30, 2006.

Cedar Point has been voted the world's best amusement park for 9 consecutive years. It is very deserving of that award. It is a very well managed park with great rides, so many rides that it takes a minimum of 2 days to enjoy all of them fully.

Kings Island, a former Paramount Park bought in 2006 by Cedar Fair (parent company of Cedar Point and nearby Geauga Lake), isn't nearly as good (ride wise). Their rides aren't the high end, big budget type rides Cedar Point installs every year.

They are both great parks. Cedar point, being on the lake, has more ambiance and the feeling of an old-time park. King's Island is newer- more like six flags parks found in other states. They both have awesome roller coasters!

Actually, King's Island now has a giant water park, too... And the old Hanna Barbara theme was replaced by Nickelodeon a few years ago!

I haven't been to Kings Island in years. I do know Cedar Point is considered the roller coaster capitol. I believe they have more coasters than any other theme park. If you have kids I think Kings Island is Hanna Barbara themed, and Cedar Point has Camp Snoop. At Cedar Point they also have a huge water park and hotels and camping grounds.

I only know of Cedar Point, but that park is if you like just going up and down, it holds the record for the 2nd highest hill in the world! Most to all of the rides are above 100 feet.
