They will hunt you down until the end of time and when they find you, charge you 29% per day for each day the bill went unpaid. I hope you didn't take any library books with you--not only will you be charged for the book, $5 per day each day it is deemed "overdue", you will be jailed and most likely sentenced to death by stoning. You better just keep running......

I looked at it this way, when I moved abroad 15 years ago....some day I might want to go back, or better said might HAVE to go back. What happens then, I must be one of the few with a conscience I paid all my debts before I moved to Spain, but I can sleep comfortable knowing I haven't defrauded anyone!

Also years ago I lived and worked in Belgium, I was in hospital for a short while, they never sent me a bill so it was forgotten. Years later when I signed on unemployed in the UK I got a letter one day asking if I had ever lived at a certain address in Antwerp....yes I did! They never asked me for anything, but it is obvious that the countries are in contact with one another.

If you can live with yourself, fine that's your choice, but I hope they do look for you and the rest that are living abroad owing money in the UK. Shame on you.

They may not look for you, but it will be reflected on your credit report as an unpaid bill. If you try to get a loan down the line you may be required to pay it and all associated fees before moving forward with your loan. Just pay it, it'll be less painful now than later.

The likelyhood of you being pursued to another country by a Telephone Company to obtain payment of an unpaid phone-bill. Is about as likely as "Cherie Blair not taking a fee for speaking at a charity event"

they wont actively look for you. if you had stayed at home an hadnt paid it they would have just simply cut off the line until the payment was recieved. however, i think it will go on your credit report and might make it hard for you to get a loan although i dont think and unpaid phone bill would have too much importance as the scale goes. hoever it is best to just pay it if you can afford it to avoid any possible negative effects

No probably not and Yes it will stay on your credit report; but it may also make it difficult to get utility services when you need them when and if you come back.

pay them; a bit at a time if you need to, but pay them.

Pay the telephone bill, it's illegal and immoral to steal. Then you can relax and sleep well knowing you've done the right thing.

Joking apart - yes they will look for you. I spoke to someone once who worked for BT. They actually found someone in Australia who owed them about £200. It cost them thousands of pounds to find him, but it was done to deter others.

It WILL affect your credit here in the US. Oh dear, you had better pay it. I don't know how it will affect your credit abroad.
