At least Kannagi was a historical heroine, and when the Kannagi statue was removed, it felt strange to get into a bus and ask the conductor to stop at Kannagi statue ,but can anybody tell me why the Statue of our "Sivaji" Ganeshan has been erected, right in the middle of the road,in front of Mahatma Gandhi statue, has Sivaji Ganeshan done anything worthwhile for TamilNadu or for its people,in fact he was a successful actor but a failed politician who was not even able to get elected as a MLA in his own town, so when compared with that Kannagi is a much better thing..As far as betterment of poor people in Tamilnadu is concerned, where were you all these days , in Mars, because all the poor people inT.N. are going to get a colour TV, Rs2, a kilo of rice and a gas stove with connection, furthermore the rates of Cinema Theatres are slashed to Rs.10, what else do they want, in fact if I am right the poor are also given two Saree's for females and two dhoti es for males, further there is also the old age pension as well as widow rehabilitation pension . What else do you want ?

Our human eye is found all above the human organs say Stomach, heart ,lungs, mouth nose and so the ear.If a human eye would have lied in any one of this article,it would have given more importance to any of this I think.Who is giving much importance to this, it is only the person who has given much importance to the Tamil literature. If any person is so particular and meticulous about the kanagi statue, why there is a celebration on the Independence day and Republic day , where a huge amount is being spent .So if we go on think like this, there will not be single thing to us for enjoyment.Great Tajmahal is nothing but a joyous moment of a King ,like this there will be so many things. In that also some people would have got something to live.

The answer to your question depends enterly on the view point of the person making the decision.
If you want to help the poor it is best done by introduction of self help techknowledgy and teaching people to use it for their own betterment.
One example of this type of technoledgy is introducing square foot gardening techknowledgy. It is inexpensive to do and relies almost entirely in local materials that can be collected by scavaging local areas. Two or three 4ft by 8ft plots will provide a family with vegatables forever if the growing seasons are long enough. If the seasons are to short then a couple of extra plots may be necessary. Missionarys introduced sq foot gardens to Haiti and the results have been excellent. If you are concerened by the need to help the poor you should purchace the square foot gardening books and set up your own garden and use it to teach others and dissiminate the information yourself instead of hoping some government agency will help as they haven't yet and proberly won't in the future. Another advantage of square foot gardening is the books can be shared by several familys reducing the cost of feeding several families for years to less than $20 USD

First of all making a statue after death is wrong and wastage of public funds..if a leader wants to respect a dead leader let him go forward and help someone who deserves in his family. And, there is no better thing than working for the welfare of the state or nation.whether it is Tamilnadu or any other state..
