He's definately overpaid as a player..However, marketing wise he's definately worth all that as he's arguably the Michael Jordan of soccer. As for playing, I consider Beckham still one of the top players in the world. Although he lost a step or 2, he can still pass and cross beautifully and his set pieces are deadly. Does he give soccer a bad name? ABSOLUTELY NOT he has done nothing but help the game out with his training videos, soccer schools, and publicity of the game. Beckham has changed the marketingpitch of soccer in all of the world (huge following in Asia) and when you think about it, hes the perfect guy. He's a top player, extremely well liked, a star wife, and good looks to go with it. He's a dream to marketers and although I don't think he'll change US soccer forever, with him coming to the USA, we'll definately have more fans than we had without him.

Overpaid? Yes, NO ONE should be paid that much money (except me). A git? I don't know...I think his performance in the WC was overly criticized. Yes, he's slow, bad defensively, and not good in the air. But his set pieces are still impressive, he can still pass the ball well, and from what I saw he played hard until he hurt his leg. Athletes are more now than just their field play, for example how many England team players stunk in the WC but put out a biography anyway? Gerrard, Cole, Lampard. Joey Barton hit the nail on the head...
