that the law says YOU, as an adult have to buckle up in the car (click it or ticket), yet everyday millions of children go back and forth to school on buses that have no seatbelts? I think they would be more of a projectile in a big bus! I do buckle up, always have

I actually posed this question to the transportation director of our school district. I was told that studies have shown that the children are actually less likely to become injured with out a seat belt in a bus accident than with one. I am not totally convinced that he wasn't just blowing smoke to shut me up or if there are studies to back this up. Personally I think the drivers just don't want to mess with making everyone buckle up, it would be one more thing for them to worry about other than safely driving our children.

I totally agree and cringe whenever I know my daughter has a field trip and has to ride on a bus. I remember hitting my head on the seat in front of me as a child. I think there is a safety reason why there are no seatbelts in school buses - I think it has to do with evacuation during an emergency, but I still don't agree with it. They might find that if kids are buckled up there would be less mischief on buses, too.

I agree with you. There should be seatbelts on buses to protect the children. I don't understand why they have never put seatbelts on buses.

An excellent point...also if they were required to be buckled in for the whole ride there would be less bullying and other nonsense on school busses.

School bus seats are built to minimize the kids being thrown around in the event of a minor collision. That's why the seat backs are so high.

When I was a pup. There was seat belts on the school bus. We would always take them off to be bad. I miss those days.

I never understood why the buses don't have seat belts. They are more at risk getting hurt. Good question.

I used to ride the bus and we never figured that out, whenever the kids asked the bus driver, he never gave legit reasons?

I know, it's like the sign posted on
most buses. Driver wears a seat
beat for your protection. Him wearing a
belt doesn't do a thing for me!!!!!!!!
