If you're talking head-to-head, most likely Matsuzaka. Obviously when they square off against eachother, probably close to 25 times this year, Matsuzaka will get Matsui out more than Matsui will get on base with a walk or a hit. So that's why I'm saying Matsuzaka.

I think Daisuke will have a vry good first season in the majors (with Boston's lineup, I'm guessing 17 wins) though it wouldn't surprise me if a healthy, and I use that term loosely, Hideki Matsui has a btter season overall.

Matsui has seen Major League pitchers and knows what to expect. Matsuzaka has seen only a glimpse of Major Leagues hitters in the World Championship.
Matsui wins this contest against Matzusaka this year.

You really can't compare since Matsuzaka is a pitcher but I will say this.........Matsuzaka will rock Matsui at the plate. Oh yeah, Hideki, try to stay off the injury list this year! Go Sox!

Matsui is an anomaly. He is just a great consistent pro hitter. I have not seen Matsuzaka pitch yet.

OF vs P you can't compare. I do think the Yanks win the division so if thats what you are looking for Matsui.

I have seen what Matsui can do. Therefore, Matsui will win this battle.
