Don't they realize those soldiers have friends and family that will want to seek revenge? How do they figure killing will stop the killing?

Think about it

It is because they bear arms to kill their opponents. That is what they do and how their enemies see them. Simple as that.

The fact they are human beings as well does not come into it. In WAR times it is kill or be killed. Also, civilians who raise guns to kill are also legitimate targets. War is a terrible thing and soldiers who sign up must expect this. It is horrible and sad but sometimes neccessary.

As for the war in Iraq I feel the US are stuck in a rock and a hard place. If they are seen to back down it will sign an end to their military might and people will see them as soft, If they don't back down they will be seen as dictators and will be targets for any repressed peoples. The war in iraq was a bad mistake but it has been done now, partly as an angry strike after 9-11 and partly because Saddam had to go. He has now gone and we should withdraw ASAP. If they decide to have an internal war that is their choice. Leave them to it.

Enemy soldiers are targets during combat. So what do you think--soldiers in opposing armies shouldn't shoot each other? So when did family and friends start to retaliate? Did the families of German soldiers seek revenge against the allies after WWII? Did the friends of NV soldiers hijack airplanes and kill thousands of innocent American civilians after Vietnam?

Oh wait, you're talking about the crazy extremists, aren't you?

The West Point motto, "Duty, Honor, Country," succinctly states the essential characteristics of military professionalism. The duty of a soldier is to his nation thorough a lawful Government. He will be traitor if he refuses to support the Government. His personal morale feeling have no place. Death for the country is a great Honor. A soldier is taught to kill and heavy amount is spent on his training. Geneva Convention protects the soldiers who have surrendered. There is no question of revenge after peace treaty. In Iraq and other places where army is deployed to control insurgency, the only way for insurgents is to harm the army and Government to create chaos for promoting their agenda. The best course to end hostility to sort out differences by negotiating peace treaty and show tolerance.

it could be stunning if greater human beings could be such as you and that i: wishing for tolerance and attractiveness extremely than violent approaches that purely gas separation. regrettably, the international merely would not artwork that way. in my opinion i could say they are actually not recognised humanely because of the fact those in potential can't relate to them on the comparable human point. Many experience they are greater suitable and easily sending peasants to the front line, and those squaddies have been psychologically pushed in direction of a expert-conflict team mentality that disassociates them with the fact of being harm against yet another sentient being. I call for a end hearth besides.

Yes, they are human beings. Many soldiers suffer greatly after returning home and realise some of the things they've done under 'orders'.

If you join the armed forces then you have to expect to be fired upon. Its your job and your duty to retaliate. What is more worrying is the plot to kidnap a soldier in Britain with a means to beheading him. This deserves the death penalty.

When you become a soldier you become a target for anyone who views your nation as their enemy. Same is true of politicians and police.
