I can't stand it. I'd rather every day be special ie small notes left - a daisy picked or such like on a daily basis. Valentines I feel gives everyone an excuse to relax in between and spend loads of money.

I agree with you! My husband and I do not celebrate our love on one day of the year. We celebrate everyday.....as corny as that may sound. I don't need him to spend money we don't have just to give me a bracelet or necklace, or something else that is truly gaudy. He doesn't need to spend money on me to prove he loves me. He does that every day when he cleans my car off before work, or kills a spider. He does it when he goes to my family functions without a fight, even though he and my family doesn't get along. That's enough for me. So, forget the flowers, the candy, the jewelery. Just tell someone you love them. That should be enough.

I love Valentine's Day. Of course I also enjoy doing small things for the people I love year round but what exactly is so wrong with a holiday that honors love??

No that is not why they people celebrate Valentine's Day.They celebrate it because that's their only one chance to tell the girl or boy that they love them.I told a girl on 2/8/07 that I love her and she means a lot to me.She comes in my heart right after my family and friends.Valentine's Day is the day of love don't spoil it by blowing your chance.
